Know all me by these presents that we   Mary Thomas     of the parish of   Goytre   in the County of Monmouth widow, Evan Jenkin of the City of Landaff and James Willton of Landaff aforesaid       are held and firmly bound unto the Right Reverend Father in God   Herbert   by divine permission Lord Bishop of   Landaff     in the sum of four hundred pounds         of good and lawful money of Great Britain to be paid unto the said Lord Bishop or to his certain attorney his executors administrators or assigns to which payment well and truly to be made. We oblige ourselves and each of us by himself for the whole our and each of our heirs executors and administrators firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals dated   twenty second   day of …ember in the fifty ninth   year of the Reign of our Sovereign   Lord George the third     by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland   King     Defender of the Faith &c and in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighteen

The Condition of this obligation is such that if the above bounden Mary Thomas widow the lawful sister & next of kin &     administrator     of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of William Phillips late of Goytre aforesaid bachelor      deceased do make or cause to be made a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased which have or shall come to the hands possession or knowledge of her   the said   Mary Thomas     or into the hands and possession of any other person or persons for her and the same so made do exhibit or cause to be exhibited in the Registry of the Consistory Court of Landaff     on or before the last day of June         next ensuing and the same goods chattels and credits and all other the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased do well and faithfully administer according to law, that is to say, do pay the debts of the said deceased which   he did owe at his     death and then the legacies contained and specified in the said Will annexed to the said Letters of Administration so to be committed as far as   his     goods chattels and credits will thereto extend and the law charge     and further do make or cause to be made a true and just accompt of  her   said administration when   she   shall be thereunto lawfully required. And all the rest and reside of the said goods chattels and credits which shall be found remaining upon the said administrat accompt and not otherwise disposed of in the said Will the same being first examined and allowed of by the Judge or Judges of the said Court for the time being shall distribute and pay in such manner and form as shall be limited by the direction of the said Judge. And lastly do at all times hereafter clearly acquit discharge and save harmless the within named Lord Bishop the said Judge and all other officers of the said Court against all persons having or pretending to have any right title or interest in the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased then this obligation to be void or else to remain in full force and virtue.   The mark of Mary Thomas; James Willton

In order to the due Administration of the Personal Estate and Effects of  the above named William Phillips             late of the aforesaid parish             of Goytre    in the County of Monmouth         who died on the   BLANK         Day of October 1817 maketh oath that she hath       made diligent search and due enquiry after and in respect of the Personal Estate and Effects of the said Deceased, in order to ascertain the full amount and value thereof; and that to the best of   her     knowledge, information and belief, the whole of the Goods, Chattles, and Credits, of which the said Deceased died, possessed within the Diocese of Landaff           (exclusive of what the Deceased may have been possessed of, or entitled to as a Trustee for any other Person or Persons, and not beneficially, but including the Leasehold Estates for years of the Deceased, whether absolute or determinable on Lives, and without deducting any thing on account of the Debts due and owing from the Deceased), are under the value of     two hundred pounds.   The mark of Mary (X) Thomas

In the name of God Amen. I William Jenkins of the parish of Goytrey in the county of Monmouth, yeoman, being sick in body but of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding praised be God for the same do mke this my last will and testament in manner and form following:

I give, devise and bequeath unto my loving son William Jenkins all my freehold [and leasehold] estates, situate in the parish of Goytrey aforesaid, his heirs and assigns forever.

Also I give and bequeath to my loving daughter Elizabeth the sum of four pounds

Also I give and bequeath to my loving daughter Susannah the sum of four pounds

Also I give and bequeath to my loving son John the sum of four pounds

Also I give and bequeath to my loving son George the sum of four pounds

Also I give and bequeath to my loving daughter Ann the sum of fifteen pounds and a large iron pot with the dresser and all it contains and a round table and two chairs and the best bedstead and the chest

Also I give and bequeath unto Thomas the natural son of my daughter Ann, the sum of twenty shillings for wearing apparel

And I do hereby nominate, constitute and appoint my loving son William Jenkins sole executor of this my last will & testament hereby revoking and making void all other will heretofore made and do declare this to be my last will and testament.

I give devise and bequeath unto my loving son William Griffiths all that messuage or tenement where in I now dwell called and known by the name of Glanynant and that piece or parcel of land called Cae ton glas situate in the parish of Goytrey aforesaid with all its appurtenances whatsoever and unto his heirs lawfully begotten during the term specified in the lease of the said tenement. And I do nominate constitute and appoint my said son William Griffiths sole executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void all and every other will or wills at any time heretofore by me made and do declare this to be my last will and testament.

In the name of God Amen I Elizabeth Absalom of the parish of Goytrey in the County of Monmouth widow being in health of body and of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding, praised be God for the same, do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following. I give, devise and bequeath to my loving nephew William Griffiths and Sarah his wife, all my mony, securities for mony, goods, chattels estates and effects of what nature or kind soever and wheresoever the same shall be at the time of my death. And I do nominate constitute and appoint my said nephew sole executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void all and every other will or wills at any time heretofore by me at any time made and do declare this to be my last will and testament. William Griffiths of the parish of Goytre in the County of Monmouth shoemaker executor named in the last Will and Testament of Elizabeth Absalom of the parish of Goytre in the County of Monmouth who died on the fifteenth day of July 1817, maketh oath that he hath made diligent search and due enquiry after and in respect of the personal estate and effects of the said deceased, in order to ascertain the full amount and value thereof; and that to the best of his knowledge, information and belief, the whole of the goods, chattles, and credits, of which the said deceased died, possessed within the Diocese of Landaff, (exclusive of what the deceased may have been possessed of, or entitled to as a trustee for any other person or persons, and not beneficially, but including the leasehold estates for years of the deceased, whether absolute or determinable on lives, and without deducting any thing on account of the debts due and owing from the deceased), are under the value of twenty pounds. In the name of God Amen

I John Moses of the parish of Goytre in the County of Monmouth and Diocese of Landaff farmer being in perfect health and of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner following. First and principally I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God hoping for the remission of all my sins thro’ the alone merits of Jesus Christ my Lord and Saviour and my body I commit to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my executors herein after mentioned, as to what worldly goods and estate God of his infinite mercy and goodness has been pleased to bestow upon me I give dispose and bequeath the same immediately from and after my decease in manner following.

First I give and bequeath unto my beloved son John Moses of the parish of Lanvihangel juxta Pontymoil farmer the sum of ten pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid him at the expiration of twelve calendar months after my decease.

I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughter Mary David wife of William David of the parish of Goytre farmer the sum of twenty pounds to be paid her at the expiration of twelve calendar months next after my decease.

Also I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Mary Moses and my son William Moses all and singular my ready money, monies lying out at interest and due to me by Bonds notes or otherwise, stock of horses cattle sheep pigs household furniture implements of husbandry and other my personal estate and effects whatsoever and of what kind soever and wheresoever situate lying and being (subject to the payment of my just debts & funeral expences) to them both share and share like to have and to hold the same during their joint lives and from and imediately after the death of either of them I give and bequeath the same to the survivor of them to have and to hold the same for ever.

I also nominate and appoint that it my said wife Mary Moses should wish to live seperate from my said son William Moses that the sum of ten pounds be paid her yearly after such separation by my said son William Moses during her natural life.

And lastly I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said wife Mary Moses and my said son William Moses joint and sole executors of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me at any time heretofore made and declaring this only to be my last Will & Testament.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty ninth day of April one thousand eight hundred and fourteen.
