In the name of God Amen the eighth day of October Anno Regni Regis Willi Tertii nunc Anglia &c duodecimo Annoq domi 1700 I Mathew William alias Mathew William Mathew of the pish of Goytrey in the County of Monmouth yeoman, being some what (as to my health) indisposed in body but of sound and pfect disposeing condicon (thanks be to God) doe make and ordeine this my last will and Testamt in manner following, principally I commend my soule into the hands of God almighty hopeing through the mirritts of his sonne Jesus Christ to receive remission of my sinns, and that my soule shall enjoy endlesse blisse in the Kingdome of Glory. And as to such terrestiall blessing which God beyond my deserts hath bestowed upon me, I dispose of the same ine sort as under specified expressed and declared.

Item I give devise and bequeath unto Mary my wife all my messuadges lands and tenem’ts wheresoever lyeing in the sev’all pishes of Goytrey and Mamhilad in the said County of Monmoth to hold the same to her and her assignes dureing her naturall life and after her decease, I give and devise the same p’misses unto my sonne William to hold the same to my sayd [page damaged. 2 lines unreadable. ] the moyety of the sayd p’misses to my sayd sonne William his heires and assignes forever. To hold the same moyety unto my said sonne William his heires and assignes forever. Item I give and bequeath to and between my younger children, namely, Phillip, David, John, Thomas and Catherine the sume of five pownds a peece to be payd to each of them by my sayd sonne William his heires or assignes in one yeare after the decease of Mary my sayd wife. And I doe hereby charge all and singular the sayd p’misses to and with the paymt of the sayd sev’all sumes of five pownds. And lastly I doe nominate? And apoint my said wife and my said sonne William to bee joint executors of this my last will and Testamt. In wittnesse whereof I have heerunto sett my hand and seale the day & yeare aboves’d.
