John Cooke 1764

In the name of God Amen I John Cooke of Goytrey in the County of Monmouth Gent being of sound mind memory and understanding do this eighteenth day of July one thousand seven hundred and fifty make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner following to wit.

First I commit my soul to Almighty God and my body to be decently buried at the discretion of my executrix herein after named.

I give devise and bequeath all my real estate whatsoever either in possession reversion or remainder unto my loving wife Cecilia for the term of her natural life and from and after her decease I give and devise the same and every part thereof unto my son John Cooke and the heirs of his body and for the want of such issue I give and devise the same and every part thereof unto my sister Martha Grevile and to my nephews Capel and Ayree Cooke two sons of my late brother William Cooke and to their heirs and assigns forever as Tenants in Common and not as Joint Tenants

And as for touching and concerning all and singular my personal estate I give and bequeath the same and every part thereof unto my said loving wife Cecilia whom I make sole executrix of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Will or Wills by me heretofore made.

In witness whereof I have to this my last Will set my hand and seal the day and year first within written.

Signed sealed published and declared by the testator John Cooke as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who subscribed our names as witnesses hereto in the presence and at the request of the said testator.

On the eleventh day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty four administration with the Will annexed of the goods chattels and credits of John Cooke late of Goytrey in the County of Monmouth deceased was granted to John Cooke the natural and lawfull son and administrator of the goods of Cecilia Cooke widow deceased whilst living the relict sole executrix and residuary legatee named in the said Will he having been first sworn by Commission duly to administer for that the said Cecilia Cooke survived the testator but died without taking Probate
