Indenture dated 1st December 1740

Between the Right Honourable William, Lord Abergavenny and Walter Evans of Goytree, mason.

Messuage, garden and three acres of land containing four acres lying in Goytree aforesaid late in lease to Jane Pritchard and joining to the west the lease lands of John Watkins on all other parts to the waste and highway leading from Usk to Abergavenny.

Also all that scite of a house late in lease to William Jenkins Jones containing three acres adjoining to the lands of Moses Lowman, gentleman.

All for the lives of Walter Evans, his heirs and assigns, Elizabeth his wife aged twenty five years, and Margaret Hugh, his wife’s sister aged twenty two years.

Made between the Right Honourable George Lord Bergavenny and William Bandfield of the parish of Goytrey, tayler.

Witness that the Lord Bergavenny let unto William Banfield all that one cottage and two acres of land thereunto belonging being part of Pellenny common now in possession of himself William Bandfield for the lives of William Banfield, his daughters Mary and Anne and the life of the longest liver, yielding and paying unto the said Lord Bergavenny the sume of two shillings Herriot at the death without deduction.

George Lord Bergevenny demised to Wm Pritchard of Goytrey Victualler a cott and four acres of wast with the appurtence lying in Goytrey & upon the waste called Pellenny except all mines etc And except libty of building any other cottage on the premises nor assign the said premises without leave of the Lord nor do any act or ? in prejudice of him or tenants to hold for the lives of the leasee Rees? & Mary his son and daughter.

(2) To rebuild the cottage and smiths shop and to erect on the garden ground a brick or stone house at a minimum cost of £150

Grant by Matilda verch Wylym late relict of Rice ap John of the parish of Goitre in the Lordship of Bergavenny, widow and David ap Rys of the town of Bergavenny burgess to Juhanne verch Rys, the wife of Lewis ap Richard and Walter Lewys:

8 parcels of arable land and meadow in the parish of Goytree in the Lordship of Bergavenny. In length between the Lord’s waste there called Cefn Meinoc on one lead and the land of the said Matilda ap David on the other and in bredth between the lands of the said Matilda ap David on one side of the said waste and the way leading from the mansion of the said Matilda to the Lord’s waste on the other.

Rendering 2d per annum and double rent as heriot
