In the name of God Amen I Sarah Farquhar widow of the parish of Goytre in the County of Monmouth being of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding but mindful of my mortality do this ninth day of October in the year of our Lord 1834 make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say. First I desire to be decently buried in the churchyard of Trevethin without any funeral pomp and with as little expence as may be.
Also I give and bequeath unto my sister Mary Cotton of London the sum of thirty pounds.
Also I give and bequeath unto my brother Samuel Hill the sum of thirty pounds.
Also I give and bequeath unto my sister Jane Cleobury the sum of thirty pounds.
Also I give and bequeath unto my nephew Francis Hill of Pontypool the sum of five pounds.
Also I give and bequeath unto my niece Mary Jacob of London the sum of five pounds.
The above legacies to be payed within twelve months after my decease in full.
Also I give and bequeath the residue of my personal property to be equally divided between my seven children viz, Anne the wife of the Revd J Evans, Llanover; John Farquhar; Mary Farquhar; James Farquhar; Elizabeth Farquhar; Jane Farquhar; Sarah Farquhar after payment of my just debts funeral and testamentary expences and the expences attending the execution of this my Will. It is my will that the legacy bequeathed to my daughter Jane Farquhar shall be for her sole use. And I hereby direct my executors herein after named to stand possessed thereof in trust for her. The legacies to my said several children to be paid within twelve months after my decease. And I do hereby ordain and appoint my son John Farquhar and my son in law the Rev Jno Evans executors of this my last Will and Testament. Appeared Personally John Farquhar of the Town of Bridgwater in the County of Somerset Gentleman and the Reverend John Evans of the parish of Lanover in the County of Monmouth, Clerk, the joint Executors named in the last Will and Testament of the said Sarah Farquhar formerly of Goytra but late of the parish of Ragland in the said County of Monmouth widow deceased, who died on the eleventh day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty four and made Oath that the Estate and Effects of the said deceased, for and in respect of which a Probate of the said Will is to be granted, exclusive of what the said deceased may have been possessed of or entitled to as a Trustee for any other Person or Persons, and not beneficially, and without deducting any thing on account of the Debts due and owing from the said deceased, are under the value of one thousand Pounds, to the best of these Deponent’s knowledge, information, and belief. And they lastly made Oath that the said deceased did not die possessed of any Leasehold Estate or Estates for years, either absolute or determinable, on a life or lives to the best of this Deponent’s knowledge, information and belief.
