In the name of God Amen. I Morgan John of the parish of Goytrey in the county of Monmouth and diocese of Landaff, yeoman, being sick in body but of perfect mind & memory, praise be therefore given to Almighty God.
I do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following [that is to say]
First and principally I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God hoping through ye meritts wrath and passion of my saviour Jesus Christ to have full and free pardon and forgiveness of all my sins and to enjoy everlasting life, and my body I comitt to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my executrix hereafter named. And as for the disposition of all my temporal estate as it hath pleased God to bestow upon me I give and dispose hereof as foll:
Item: I give, devise and bequeath all my freehold lands, tenem.ts with all and singular the appurtenances thereof, situate lying and being in the parish of Goytrey and county of Monmouth nearing to the lands of John Hanbury esq. The lands of Thomas Jenkin esq. The lands of Jenett Jenkin widdow, and the highway leading from Carlon to Bergavenny, on all or most parts and sides thereof; all of wch said lands and premises wth all said barns thereto belonging wth all and singular the appurtenances thereof.
I give, devise and bequeath as afores.d unto Mary my wife during the time that she shall continue my widdow: but if she should happen to marry or take to husband any person or cohabit wth any person as man & wife, then I give the fors.d lands & premises immediately between Mary and Elizabeth my 2 daughters there likewise and to their heirs and assigns forever:
Item: I give & bequeath unto Mary my daughter two heifers, one a yearling and the other 2 years old, and one old mare.
Item: I give & bequeath unto Elizabeth my daughter, two heifers the one a yearling, and the other 3 years old.
Item: I give & bequeath unto Mary my wife three cows and one mare colt.
Item: I give & bequeath all my sheep between Mary my wife and my 2 daughters share alike.
Item: I give unto Mary my daughter one great brass pann: all the rest of my household stuff whatsoever I give and bequeath between Mary my wife and my two daughters share alike:
Divising my neighbour Jenkin Rosser and James Rosser of Goytrey to part ye said household stuff equally between them allowing to the best of their skill and judgement.
Item: I give and bequeath unto my brother William John the sum of one shilling.
All the rest and residue of my personall estate, goods & chattles whatsoever I give and bequeath unto Mary my daughter who I nominate & appoint sole executrix of this my last will and testament and I do hereby revoke, disanull and make void all former wills by me made and this only to be taken for my last and no other.
In witness whereof I, the said Morgan John have hereunto sett my hand and seal the twenty fourth say of October, one thousand seven hundred and nineteen.
