In the name of God Amen the three & twentith day of Apprill in the fower & twentith yeare of the raigne of Charles the second by the grace of God of England Scotland France & Ireland King, defender of the faith &c & in the yeare of our Lord one thowsand six hundred & seaventye two [page damaged. DW] of the pish of Goytrey in the Countye of Monmoth & wthin the diocesse of Landaff yeoman being sicke in boddye but of good & pfecte memorye & remembrance thanks be two almightye God for the same doe hereby make & ordayne this my last will and testament in manner & forme following (vizt)
First I bequeath my soule unto God my maker & to Jesus Christ my redeemer & to the Holy Ghosts my sanctyfier hopeing to be saved by the merits merries death & passion of Jesus Christ & to enioy theverlasting kingdome pr’paired for the faithfull, as for my boddye I bequeath it unto the earth from whence it came there to remayne untill that great day of the resurection of the just & to be buried in Cristian buriall in the pish church of Goytrey.
As for the goods & psonall estate wch God hath lent? me? I give and bequeath them in manner & forme following.
Item I give & bequeath … the Cathedrall Church of Landaph twelve pence.
Item I give & bequeath unto William Morgan my sonn the some of fowerscore pownds wch remayneth in the hands of Joseph Hayles of Bergavenny to be payed the sayed William Morgan on demand after my decease.
Item I give & bequeath unto my said sonn William Morgan the some of twentye pownds ymeadiatelie after my decease.
Item I give & bequeath unto Elizabeth Thomas my maydservant one red hayfer being two yeares owld.
Item I give & bequeath unto Ann Richard my neece & God daughter one other red hayfer being three yeares owld,
Item I give and bequeath unto my welbeloved wife Blanch the some of twentye pownds togeather wth all my corne & graine threshed & unthreshed & growing, togeather wth all my cattle & psonall estate whatsoever being moveable & unmoveable, I give & bequeath them unto my sayed wife Blanch to have & to howld the foresayed goods & psonall … before bequeathed, during such tyme as shee doth live sole & unmarried, but it shall happen my foresaid wife shalbe intermarried wth any man my meaning is that soe much of the psonall estate that shalbe unexpended, being by me bequeathed, shalbe & remayne to the use of my sonn William Morgan excepting the twentye pownds wch I have? bequeathed to my foresaid wife Blanch wch is to remayne to her onlie use & to the use … other pson or psons whatsoever.
As for the rest of my goods & psonall estate not? before bequeathed I give & bequeath unto my sayed sonn William Morgan whom I … & appoynte my whole & sole executor of this my last will & testament to see my depts & legacies payed & my funerall expences discharged.
